Shillong, October, 2025 – Meghalaya has launched a new initiative that combines bamboo resources with biochar technology to generate carbon credits. The project strengthens climate resilience while creating sustainable income opportunities for local communities.

Compliance Kart Pvt. Ltd. is the implementing partner, bringing expertise in carbon finance, DMRV systems, and global registry engagement to ensure transparent measurement and monetization of bamboo-based carbon credits.

Through this initiative, bamboo plantations act as powerful carbon sinks, while biochar locks carbon in soils for centuries, improves fertility, and supports green jobs. Revenues from carbon credits will flow directly to farmers, communities, and local institutions, ensuring fair and inclusive benefits.
