Nature Based Carbon Finance

The Meghalaya Nature‑Based Carbon Finance Project is a grouped afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation (ARR) initiative under Verra’s VM0047 methodology, restoring degraded bamboo ecosystems across Khasi and Garo Hills of Meghalaya. Area onboarded 4,920 ha approx. in Phase 1 and scaling to 1 Lakh ha over the period of 8 years, it employs assisted natural regeneration, enrichment planting, fire and grazing control, and sustainable harvesting, with communities as custodians. Over its 20‑year crediting period (2023–2043), it is expected to generate ~6 million tonnes of CO₂ removals while enhancing biodiversity, livelihoods, and resilience.
